Sofacare is our name for our specialist sofa and furniture protection package - designed to help keep your sofa or furniture looking (and feeling) great for as long as possible. How does it work?

For a simple one-off payment a Sofacare insurance plan will repair damage on a range of accidents including spills, stains, rips to pet bites and scratches* - it also covers excessive loss of resilience, broken zips or electrical failures once the manufacturers guarantee has ended. This cover starts from the second your furniture has been delivered. Simply get in touch with the insurance administrators Guardsman to make a claim using their easy claim process. You’ll also be eligible for a multi-point sofa health check from one of our experts after the first 2 years.

* not as a result of a build-up. Exclusions apply.

Get peace of mind with a multi-point sofa health check

As part of your Sofacare package, you are entitled to a multi-point health check of your furniture by an experienced furniture technician after the first two years of use. This check is designed to deliver peace of mind that your furniture is safe, performing as intended, and identifying any steps needed to maintain its appearance and functionality.

The sofa check will include an in-person home visit and consultation with an expert, to guide you on how to support the longevity of your furniture. It will help identify any potential issues and give you advice on how to maintain your furniture.

This service is included when you purchase any of our Sofacare packages and must be booked between 30 months and 42 months of your furniture being delivered. Further details of what is included in the multi-point sofa health check can be found in our terms and conditions.

What is a fabric protector?

Some of our sofas are eligible for a special fabric protection treatment, which helps to repel spills that could otherwise lead to stains. If you take out a Sofacare plan that includes the treatment, your new sofa will be treated prior to delivery. Please note that due to a huge range of fabric types available at DFS, unfortunately not all of our sofas are suitable for this treatment.

How can I purchase a Sofacare protection package?

It’s quick and easy to take out a Sofacare package when shopping at DFS. You simply select which products you’d like to protect, make a one-off payment at the point of purchase, and then you’re covered for 5 years from the date your furniture is delivered. Please note that there are several types of Sofacare package, covering fabric sofas, leather sofas, and furniture. If more than one package applies across your order, you will be able to choose which package to opt for. For example, if you are purchasing a fabric corner sofa and a leather armchair, you may choose to only take out Sofacare on the fabric sofa.

What if I’ve already purchased my furniture? Can I still take out Sofacare?

If you have already placed your order, but your furniture is yet to arrive, you may still have time to add a Sofacare package. Give us a call on 0333 9999 777 and we’ll be happy to walk you through your options.

Please note we are unable to retrospectively add Sofacare packages to furniture which has already been delivered.

Making a claim on your Sofacare package is quick and easy. Simply log in to the Guardsman portal, or ring their UK call centre on the number provided on your protection plan certificate. Guardsman aim to get back to all claim requests within 24 hours, or the next working day. Once your Sofacare plan is active, you can access the portal (or request your login details) on Guardsman’s Make A Claim page.

Guardsman will take a look over your claim and see how they can best help resolve the problem. If there’s been an accident that has resulted in a stain, Guardsman will send you a specialist stain removal wipe first to prevent further damage. It is very successful and in most cases will remove the stain completely, avoiding the inconvenience of having to wait for a technician to come out. However, you don’t have to use it, or if it doesn’t work, simply let them know and they will send out one of their expert technicians to solve the problem - whether that’s stain removal, repair or partial or full replacement.

If you want to find out more about Sofacare and whether it’s the right fit for you, there’s plenty more information available - we recommend downloading our Sofacare leaflet, reading the full Sofacare terms & conditions, or popping into your local DFS store to speak to an expert.
