Sarah Humphreys - Group Senior Buyer for DFS and Sofology

With a double-digit decade background in commercial furniture buying, what Group Senior Buyer Sarah Humphreys doesn’t know about sofas isn’t worth knowing. As a bonafide expert in the next big thing - from introducing u-shaped sofas (which were an instant hit, becoming the biggest search term on our website) to knowing what sofa fabrics are trending - Sarah is here to guide us (and you) along the journey of finding the perfect sofa.

Clocking up an incredible 20 years working in our commercial buying department, Sarah is a true DFS success story. Leaving university with a degree in Management at PR, Sarah joined DFS way back in 2006 as a merchandising assistant. She took to it like a duck to water, working across all categories - dining, occasional furniture, bedroom and sofas - and working her way up the corporate ladder with multiple promotions. In fact, it was Sarah that championed and introduced beds, mattresses and bedroom furniture to DFS for the first time in 2012!

 Nowadays, Sarah’s unrivalled experience and knowledge has her focussing on sofas and upholstery, as Group Senior Buyer for DFS and Sofology for UK and Europe. That means that she works with many different supplier partners across the UK and Europe, as well as mentoring a team of Buyer’s and Junior Buyer’s. She spends her days visiting many countries, sourcing exciting furniture, looking for the next big thing and building great relationships with our supplier and manufacturing partners. Always with the customer front of mind, Sarah’s constantly on the hunt for new colour trends, luxurious comfort, and of course - the very best cost prices for DFS, so we can pass amazing value onto our customers without compromising on quality.

As a busy working mum, Sarah’s no stranger to having lots of responsibilities. Alongside her full time job at DFS, she has her hands full juggling everyday home life, family, and her two children - Max, aged 11, and Chloe, aged 8. Both Max and Chloe play football - so you’ll often find Sarah cheering them on from the sidelines, whatever the weather!
