Since we put so much time and energy into handcrafting sofas for our customers, we wanted to make sure each and every one arrives in tip-top condition - so we created our very own two-person delivery company, aptly named The Sofa Delivery Company.
For £129, our experts will deliver and install your sofa, as long as you live within a 50 mile radius by road of a DFS store on the UK mainland. The Sofa Delivery Company delivers 7 days a week, 7am - 7pm, and we’ll schedule your delivery day automatically as soon as your sofa is ready. Scheduled day doesn’t work for you? Don’t worry, just give us a call and we’ll help you rearrange at a date convenient for you.
With a huge range of furniture in all shapes and sizes, we need many pairs of hands to get it safely to our customers across the UK. That’s why we work with a selection of trusted delivery partners to deliver our ranges of beds, mattresses, furniture and accessories, so we can provide the same great delivery experience across all our products. We use a range of delivery methods to suit each product type - from two person white glove delivery for large furniture pieces, right down to Parcelforce for small home accessories.
As you might expect, delivery costs on furniture and accessories at DFS depends on the type of product. For sofas, there’s a £129 delivery charge, which includes our two-person delivery team to assemble and install it in your home for you. For some other furniture pieces, there is a £49 delivery charge, which usually includes delivery to the room of your choice, and sometimes installation too - check the product page for more information. Delivery charges do vary between products and ranges, but will be clearly displayed during the checkout process on our website, or on your order form if you place your order in-store.
Generally, DFS orders can be delivered to most areas in the UK. Our standard sofa delivery through The Sofa Delivery Company includes delivery to any addresses within 50 miles of a DFS store - if your address is further than this, there may be an additional delivery charge. Some of our trusted delivery partners also have restrictions on delivering to certain areas, including the Republic of Ireland and the Isles of Scilly, but if your delivery is affected by any of these restrictions, our team will let you know as part of the order process.
All our furniture includes an estimated lead time on the product page - simply check the description before you order or ask a DFS colleague in store. Please note that these lead times are only approximate - from time to time, delays can affect the lead times on our products, due to reasons such as quality control, supplier delays, or global delivery issues. If your order is subject to a delay, we will contact you to let you know.
You can track your DFS order at any time through our website - simply login to your account and visit the Track Your Order page.
Most orders will be automatically scheduled for delivery as soon as they are available. We’ll send you an email and an SMS with your delivery information - but if the date doesn’t suit, don’t worry. You’ll be able to reschedule your delivery - simply check the email or SMS for information on how to do so.
When your delivery is initially booked, you will receive an SMS with your all-day slot. If this date initially booked isn't right, we may be able to reschedule in a few days' time - however, our delivery slots are limited, and because we aim to get your new furniture delivered to you as soon as possible, we do not have the storage facilities to hold onto completed orders for long. To see if an alternative date is available, simply follow the instructions in your delivery SMS or email, or contact us to discuss directly. The day before your delivery, you will receive another SMS with an approximate delivery time slot, so you can better plan your day.
That depends! With so many different pieces of furniture available at DFS, it’s not surprising that we have different delivery methods, too. While some pieces will generally arrive together - usually our made to order sofas can be delivered together - others are delivered to you direct from the manufacturer, or are small enough to not need a specialist courier and can go on a regular mail van. While we’ll always try to consolidate orders where possible, there are occasions when your new furniture pieces are coming from opposite ends of the country, so it wouldn’t make sense to deliver them together!
If your order is split into multiple deliveries, don’t worry - we’ll let you know when they are scheduled, and if the date or time doesn’t suit you, there’s always an option to reschedule.
Some of our smaller products - like vases, artwork, and some bar stools - are small enough to be sent via regular courier, rather than needing to go on a delivery lorry. We use Parcelforce as our courier of choice to send these items.
Before ordering, we strongly advise measuring up your space to ensure your new purchase is going to fit - this helps avoid any disappointments on delivery day. Check out our helpful measuring guide to find top tips on how to measure your space.
Once you know your new pieces are going to fit, there are a few more things you can do to prepare for a smooth delivery. Clearing the space for your new furniture to go is an obvious one - but have you also cleared room in access corridors, and removed any breakable objects our delivery experts might encounter on their route through your home? If you know you’ll need to remove any doors from their hinges to get your new sofa in, be sure to do this before your delivery, as our delivery experts won’t be able to do this for you.
Please be aware that our delivery experts are required to wear work boots for their own safety while delivering and installing your sofa. If you are worried about the possibility of dirt or marks on your flooring or carpets, we recommend covering them prior to your delivery with dust sheets or flooring protection, both of which can be found at most local hardware stores.
That depends! All our made to order sofas are delivered by The Sofa Delivery Company, with other pieces being delivered by a range of our trusted delivery partners - including Wincanton, Parcelforce, or our manufacturers’ preferred partners. You’ll always know who is delivering your parcel, as it will be included in your scheduled delivery notification.
Many of our furniture pieces include delivery to the room of your choice, some include installation, and some are doorstep delivery only. Check the product page or ask a colleague in store for more information.
Many of our larger pieces of furniture are delivered in multiple pieces - since most people would struggle to fit a corner sofa or king size bed through their front door! As well as being more practical for deliveries, this helps us to fit more products into our lorries, resulting in increased efficiency, lower emissions, and allowing us to offer you great value furniture. Our sofa deliveries include installation, so your sofa will be assembled for you in your space - and some other ranges also include installation, like some of our large wardrobe sets. Other products, including beds and dining furniture, may require self assembly, and this will be indicated on the product page.
Our sofa delivery charge includes installation in the room of your choice - we will assemble and install your sofa (or sofas) for you. We’ll also remove all the packaging and take it away with us, to be disposed of responsibly, including recycling wherever possible. This also applies to select other ranges - like large wardrobe sets - which is indicated on the product pages. Many of our furniture pieces include delivery to the room of your choice, but many pieces, including beds and dining furniture, will require some self-assembly.
