When we say comfort should be for all, we mean it. It’s why we’re committed to Giving Back, and why we made three straightforward pledges - to provide time, resource and money - to support the communities in which we operate.
Each year we’ve committed to donate up to 1% of our profits before tax which includes the money raised for our charity partner BBC Children In Need. And we’re proud to say many of our colleagues get involved to support - from bake sales to fundraising events. We also have our colleague Matched Giving Scheme, to give that extra boost to anyone raising money for a charity close to their heart.
We know first hand how much difference a comfy sofa or bed can make to someone’s quality of life. That’s why we’ve made a commitment to give away up to 1% of our products every year to those charities and organisations who need it most. *subject to application, eligibility and suitable products being available.
As part of our benefits package, every DFS colleague has the option to take one fully paid volunteering day per year, to help any charity close to their hearts - so we can support them in giving back to their community.
“I volunteered for an activity day for underprivileged children run by Derbyshire County Council. The children are taken to a local activity centre where they take part in lots of activities. including den building, go karting and river walking. The river walking is definitely a favourite amongst the kids - they love getting wet and muddy! I’m very proud to be able to volunteer and give the children such a wonderful opportunity with some truly magical moments.”
“I volunteered for Samaritan’s Purse - Operation Christmas Child, an appeal they do every Christmas, where people donate shoe boxes filled with toys, gifts and essential items to send to children across the world. I first started supporting this charity by packing shoe boxes myself at home, and I now volunteer at the processing centre every year! I love volunteering for this charity and seeing videos of the children receiving the gifts is just amazing.”
“I completed a 2300 mile cycle ride around France, Italy and Spain to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society, in memory of my mother who suffered from vascular dementia.
She had wonderful care in her last few months so this was my way of helping other dementia sufferers to have the same. With DFS Matched Giving, I raised over £1400!”
“I took part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to raise money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital, a charity close to my heart as they have recently given our friend's little girl life saving treatment. It took me and a group of friends over 12 hours to finish the challenge - on one of the wettest days of the year. I’m incredibly proud of raising over £900 and was delighted to receive an extra £300 through the DFS Matched Giving Scheme!”
