How do I measure properly?

Upholstery can be tricky to deliver so here are a few helpful hints and tips to remember when choosing your furniture.

  • Have you measured the area of the room you want your new furniture to go in?
  • Consider the length, width and depth of the new furniture (detailed on the full range and sizes tab on the product page)
  • Have you checked the height and width of the doorways, hallways and other access points into the room and property?
  • Are there any tight twists and turns between your front door and the room you want your sofa in?
  • How does the size of your new sofa compare to your current sofa?
  • Do you live in an apartment which is only accessible via a lift? Is the lift large enough for the furniture?

What can I do with my old sofa?

While you're making room for your lovely new sofa, you can be green and help the British Heart Foundation (BHF) in its vital fight against heart disease. DFS has partnered with the BHF, the UKs heart charity and AnyJunk, the UK's largest junk removal specialist, to offer two simple and environmentally responsible options for getting rid of your old sofa.

If your sofa is in a clean and saleable condition complete with fire safety labels (legal requirement) the BHF will collect your sofa for free to be sold in one of its over 150 Furniture & Electrical Stores across the UK. The BHF try to reuse as many of the items donated to their stores as possible, ensuring that minimal items enter landfill each year. By donating to the BHF you will be helping to raise funds towards the much needed research, education and care for people living a heart condition in your local community. If you are a tax payer you can also Gift Aid your donation, to help raise even more funds. To book a collection with the BHF call the dedicated number 0844 412 5000 which will direct you to your nearest BHF store or book online at www.bhf.org.uk/free and don’t forget to quote DFS.

If your sofa does not meet the current fire safety requirements or is soiled/damaged, AnyJunk will collect your sofa and any other item of unwanted furniture and take it away for reuse, recycling, or disposal at a licensed waste facility. Multi-award winning, AnyJunk divert from landfill more than 85% of everything they collect. Collections cost £45 for the first item and £25 for each additional item. Surcharges may apply for more remote parts of the UK. AnyJunk donates £3 to the British Heart Foundation for every DFS collection. I want a sofa bed for my guest bedroom, how do I choose between a standard and deluxe sofa bed?

All our sofa beds are easy to convert and offer a great night's sleep. But if you're using the sofa bed more frequently or for added comfort our deluxe sofa beds come with a sprung mattress.

I need my furniture in a hurry, can you help?

Unlike most other furniture retailers, all our upholstery is made especially for you so you don't have to compromise. But bespoke, handcrafted furniture takes a little while to build. Don't worry if you are working to a tight deadline, we have an extensive range of Express Delivery upholstery which is made in our UK factories, so you still get the same high quality, just with a shorter lead time. Simply speak to a personal shopping advisor and they will be able to help you.

How do I place an order?

Can I make changes to my order?

Changes to your order within the first few days should not be a problem. Please speak to a personal shopping advisor on 0800 110 5000 as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate any amendments to your order. However, because our furniture is handmade especially for you once your order is in production it will be very difficult to make changes.

Will I receive an order confirmation?

We will send written confirmation to all customers that order by phone. Customers that place an order online will receive a confirmation page to print and an email. All customers taking advantage of our interest free credit will receive a finance contract in the post which will need to be signed and returned to DFS.

I've placed an order, when will my sofa arrive?

As all our sofas are hand made to order each product is different, your delivery lead time is printed on your order form and as soon as your suite arrives the store will call you to arrange a delivery date. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact your local store.

How safe is shopping at www.dfs.co.uk?

We take online security extremely seriously and have invested in the some of the most advanced site security available. In addition, we have partnered with Barclaycard for all online payments for your added security.

Where do you deliver?

We can deliver everywhere. We will provide a personal delivery quotation for all our customers living in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. For customers living in the Channel Islands or throughout the rest of Europe, please speak to a personal shopper about your requirements.

How much is delivery?

We pride ourselves in the service our delivery team provide; they will deliver and fully install your sofa for a small charge of £49.00 if you live within a 50 mile radius of a DFS store on the UK mainland. We also take all the packaging away to be disposed of and recycled wherever possible.

We can deliver to other areas, including outside of the UK. To find out how much this would cost simply call your local store or our sales team here at Head Office on 0800 110 5000.

What happens on the day of delivery?

Please ensure that the delivery team can gain easy access to the room that the furniture is going into and that the area you want the furniture placed is cleared. Our delivery team will unpack your furniture, install it in the room of your choice and remove all packing materials from your home and recycle wherever possible. Unfortunately, we are not able to take away your old furniture. To make sure you are completely satisfied with your furniture the delivery team will ask you to sign for your furniture after it has been installed.

Payment
How do I pay for my order?

When ordering online, customers are asked to select their preferred method of payment. We accept all major credit and debit cards including MasterCard, Visa, Electron and American Express. Alternatively you can apply for interest free credit through our simple online application process.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

If you are paying by interest free credit you do not need to pay a deposit unless you want to reduce the loan value. If you are paying by debit or credit card then we require a small deposit of 10% of the total order value.

Can I apply for interest free credit online?

Everything DFS sells is available with 4 years interest free credit, whether you buy online, in store or over the telephone. Simply select the product you want to buy and then follow the online checkout process which will give you the option of applying for finance. Alternatively, speak to one of our personal shoppers free on 0800 110 5000 who can guide you through this process. To take advantage of this payment option, you must be:

  • over 18 years of age
  • a UK resident
  • be able to make monthly repayments from a UK personal bank account.

When do I start to make my monthly repayments?

It is your choice! You can pay nothing and then take up to 3 years interest free credit, or you can make your first payment one month after delivery and take up to 4 years.

How do I settle my finance account early?

DFS use external finance companies so please call them directly to discuss your settlement figure or for any queries regarding payments. The finance companies we use are:

To find out which finance company you are with simply check the paperwork they sent you at the time of placing the order or check the name that is on your bank account direct debit.

When you call please ensure you have your agreement number to hand (this is found on the letter that you will have received from the finance provider when your order was placed) to ensure a quick and prompt response.

Guarantee
How do I arrange for someone to look at my suite under the guarantee?

Please contact your local DFS store, quote your order reference number and they will be happy to arrange for one of our service managers to visit your home and resolve this for you.

How long is my furniture guaranteed for?

Many of our sofas are made in our own UK factories and all of our sofas are built to such high standards that we give a free ten year guarantee on everything we make and on products that we have exclusively sourced from our supplier partners.

The guarantee starts from the date of delivery and offers cover against manufacturing defects on the frame and spring construction. We also cover your furniture for 2 years against any defects which may arise, under normal use, through faulty factory workmanship including sofa bed and recliner mechanisms.

We offer a 2 year guarantee on all occasional, dining and bedroom furniture and all mattresses.
