A lighting trend that’s been on the rise for the last few years, featured heavily in mid-century and biophilic interior styling, and definitely isn’t going anywhere - is rattan lampshades and lamps. The warm wood tones of this material, combined with the tactile effect of the woven technique, acts as a natural diffuser for lightbulbs, making it an ideal trend for lighting. A style rooted in the 60s and 70s, it’s brought up to date with a more geometric woven pattern, and works equally well across table lamps, floor lamps, and ceiling pendant lights. You might be thinking, “This isn’t a new trend?” And yes - you’d be right! But we thought it was worth including here, as the industrial lighting trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Often mixing brass and black iron with wooden details, this style doesn’t hide the electrical components away - rather, it’s more likely to make a feature of bulbs and bases as part of the design. This trend works across the style spectrum, and looks equally good in modern, minimal homes or cosy, traditional spaces. Maybe that’s why it’s so popular?
