Introducing the Yuttari range

We believe a hard day’s work should be rewarded. That’s why we’ve created the new limited edition Yuttari range to help our Team GB heroes get the sit down they deserve – helping them rest, relax and recover after a gruelling day’s training.

The Yuttari range - whose name means comfortable and relaxing in Japanese - is designed with tranquillity and relaxation in mind. It fuses the best of Japanese minimalism with Scandi essentialist chic, inspired by the ‘Japandi’ trend currently taking the interiors world by storm.

“It’s not every day you get to design a sofa for world class athletes. Our design and manufacturing team has loved every minute of the project and we hope in some small way it helps the athletes rest and recover so they can be at their best in Tokyo.”

British craftmanship meets cutting edge style

The Yuttari sofa features a low profile for ultimate comfort, soft pillow edge detailing, and tactile weave fabric, lending a soothing feel and aesthetic.

The Yuttari accent chair, available in a soft velvet, emphasises the influence of Japanese design and use of natural materials.

While the statement Yuttari chair- inspired by Japanese craftsmanship, or ‘sashimono-shi’ – features ash arms - a material synonymous with Japanese furniture - and a beautifully inlaid tenon joint, visible in ‘Sipo’ red hardwood.

A fabric like no other

The Yuttari sofa is a collaboration between the DFS design team and independent British surface pattern designer Daniel Heath who created a bespoke fabric pattern for the range.

The fabric, which is inspired by traditional Japanese woodblock printing, explores the similarities between the two ancient island nations of Japan and Britain and features iconic British landmarks, such as the Giant’s Causeway, Edinburgh Castle and Clifton Suspension Bridge. Study the scene closely and you’ll see our Team GB athletes in training.
