Plugging in your The View sofa

To operate any of the powered functions, you’ll need to ensure the power cable at the rear of your sofa’s console is plugged into a mains socket and switched on, both at the wall and at the switch on the back of the sofa. The switch on the rear of the sofa will glow red when the power is flowing. If applicable to your model, you should also ensure any audio cables that connect your seat units to the console are all connected, to ensure all the speakers will work correctly - these can be found at the rear of each seat at the bottom of the sofa.

Operating the reclining seats and adjustable headrests

The controls for the reclining seats on the majority of The View power recliners can be found on the outside arm of your recliner sofa or chair. The buttons situated towards the front of the sofa control the footrest and the backrest - press or hold down either to begin to recline, or return upright. The buttons to the rear control the headrest in the same fashion. All the buttons enable you to choose from a variety of positions - just release the button when you find the angle you like.

Using the charging ports

All our The View sofas and chairs with recliner control panels on the outer arms also have USB and USB-C ports integrated into these controls. Simply plug in a compatible cable, connect it to your device and it should receive power via your sofa.

Unlock the full features of your cinema sofa

While you’ll have access to great features like power reclining and adjustable headrests on all our The View powered sofas and chairs, to unlock the full capabilities, you’ll need to purchase a sofa or chair with a console or arm console included. This adds even more functionality, including bluetooth audio, 4D vibration, wireless charging, additional charging ports and adjustable cup holders.

Turning on your The View sofa

To turn on your Cinesound sofa, simply ensure your sofa is plugged into a mains power socket, and hold down the power button on the console for 3 seconds. You should hear a “Power on” voice prompt, and the buttons should now glow blue. To switch your sofa off again, simply hold down the power button for 3 seconds, and you should hear a “Power off” voice prompt, letting you know your sofa is now on standby mode.

Connecting a device

All our cinesound sofas are designed to work with a variety of devices that have bluetooth functions, including smartphones, tablets, laptops and TVs. To connect a device, switch on your sofa by holding down the power button for 3 seconds, until you hear “Power on” - the blue flashing icon indicates your sofa is now ready to pair with your device. Simply turn on Bluetooth mode on your compatible device, select “Homestage Max” and pair with it. Your Showcase sofa will now play audio from the device you have connected. If you’d like to disconnect and connect a different device, simply hold down the Bluetooth button until you hear “Bluetooth disconnect”, after which you can connect to a new device.

Playing media

Once connected to a device, you can control audio playback from your device as normal, or you can use the buttons on the console. To pause or play audio, short press the bluetooth button; you can also increase and decrease the volume, and skip tracks forward or backward, using the relevant buttons on the console. Short press the volume buttons to gradually adjust the volume, or hold either down to continuously increase or decrease the volume to minimum or maximum levels.

Vibration mode

The 4D vibration technology in your Cinesound Showcase sofa can bring you closer to the action than ever before. Each seat of the sofa can switch vibration mode on and off independently using the vibration mode buttons, and your seat will vibrate in sync with the bass of any connected audio. Simply short press either vibration button to switch this mode on and off in the corresponding seat unit.

Using the cup holders

To lower each of the cup holders, press the corresponding cup holder button on the console, and the base of the cup holder will slide downwards into the console. This function is ideal to keep your drinks a little more secure - but you can slide the cup holders back up again by pressing the same button. If you spill any liquids on this area or your drinks cause any condensation, we advise wiping it up straight away, as it can interfere with the wireless charging pad technology.

Using the charging functions

Your The View sofa has several options on the console for charging devices. The console itself has two wireless charging pads on the top, which will charge any compatible devices placed upon it. These can be found in the cup holders - simply raise the cup holder bases if needed using the cup holder button to create a flat surface to charge your device. The front of the console control pad also has USB and USB-C ports where you can plug in compatible charging cables.

Turning on broadcast mode

If you have more than one The View piece with a console, you can connect it to your main console and play the same audio through all the speakers. To do this, simply short press the broadcast button on your main The View console to turn on this mode - it will initially flash for 30 seconds, then stay steadily lit blue. To connect your other pieces to receive the audio, you’ll need to turn them on and press the broadcast button on their consoles to start receiving the audio transmission. Once complete, all your The View pieces will all play audio - and vibrate if you have this setting enabled - in sync.

Please note that using the broadcast function will disable the volume, track selection and pause/play buttons on any secondary pieces connected to your main console piece until the broadcast function is turned off. You can still operate these functions across all connected sofas via the main piece, and operate functions including reclining, vibration, and cup holders as normal on your secondary pieces.

Operating your The View cinema chair with arm console

Our The View cinema chairs are a little different to our sofas with integrated consoles - to save on space, the arm pad lifts up on hinges to reveal the control panel, along with a small storage area. While many of the controls are the same and are easily operated using the instructions above, there are a few differences to bear in mind.

Using the recliner controls

To ensure you can operate the recliner while the arm console is open, the recliner control buttons are situated down the right hand side of the seat cushion. They follow the same pattern as the standard controls. The buttons situated towards the front of the sofa control the footrest and the backrest - press or hold down either to begin to recline, or return upright. The buttons to the rear control the headrest in the same fashion. All the buttons enable you to choose from a variety of positions - just release the button when you find the angle you like.

Connecting to the charging port

The USB port within the arm console features a retractable dust cover to help prevent dirt from entering the area. To use it, simply push the cover forwards with your finger or the USB connector you would like to plug into the port. Once you remove your connector, the cover will automatically close the port again.
