If you’re unsure what size to go for, try mapping out different sizes in your space with masking tape or newspaper for a visual guide. Our large rugs measure 200x290cm and are great for large living rooms, or the ideal size to place under a double bed. Our 160x230cm medium rugs are ideal underneath a rectangular six-person dining table, or work well as area rugs, allowing you to easily divide big rooms into different zones. Our 120x170cm small rugs are about the same size as the average two seater sofa, and work perfectly under coffee tables, or for compact spaces like small bedrooms and home offices. Small rugs can also be used to enhance one area in a larger room by creating a focal point. Jute rugs have become more popular during the last few years - they’re stylish, available in a range of colours, and made from a biodegradable material, so make a great option for your home. As they have a medium pile, they are best situated in low-to-medium traffic areas.

It’s best to choose a hard wearing, low maintenance and easy-to-clean rug for a kitchen, like a flat weave rug. If you have a galley style kitchen, a runner rug is a great option to brighten up the space and make it feel wider than it is.

Actually, a dark rug does the opposite of making a room feel bigger, drawing the walls in and making the room feel smaller. However, if you’re trying to add a cosy, cocooning feel to a room - like in a cavernous bedroom or living room - choosing a dark option like a black rug or navy rug is a good option. If it’s creating a spacious feel you’re after though, go for lighter colours - a classic cream rug or pristine white rug are both great options.

To create a cosy feel, you can opt for a dark toned rug - perhaps a deep pile grey rug, or geometric patterned black and white rug. If you want to make the space feel light and airy, a white rug or cream rug is the ideal choice. As for size, you can accommodate a single large living room rug, or divide the space into smaller zones by layering different sizes and styles of rugs. The choice is yours!

A classic place to put your rug in the bedroom is underneath the bed, so it extends out either side and also at the foot end. Large rugs are best for this, especially if you have a double bed or larger. Smaller rugs can also look great in this position, either placed further down towards the foot end, or higher towards the head end. A pair of matching runner rugs can also look great down either side of a double bed, or for single beds positioned against a wall, simply tucking your rug under the side of the bed is a great way to enjoy its plushness every time you get out of bed.

As long as you choose the right size, a large rug can actually make a room look larger - at least in comparison to several smaller rugs, or no rug at all. Choose a lighter, neutral colour, with some texture for interest, in a solid colour or a minimal pattern. It can also make a small room feel larger by adding depth and visual weighting to an otherwise flat floor.
